DAWSONVILLE, Ga. (January 26, 2010) – Chase Elliott will open his season this weekend in the Aaron’s Lucky Dog machine with practice on Friday for CRA’s Super Late Model series Speedfest 2010 at Lanier National Speedway.
The early entry list contains some of the most talented racers in the country for the traditional season opening North-South Super Late Model battle January 29-31.
NASCAR racers Kyle Busch, David Stremme and Steve Wallace headline the competition for this 250-lap event, along with 14-year-old Georgia native Chase Elliott, who was the 2009 GAS Series Pro Late Model Champion with one win at Lanier National Speedway. Among the list of talented drivers from the Southern division are Jason Hogan, T.J. Reaid, David Holes, Jeremy Rice, Alan Karnes, Johanna Long, Jeff Fultz, Stanley Smith, Ryan Blaney, son of NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Dave Blaney, Spencer Wauters, son of legendary Crew Chief Ritchie Wauters, and Bubba Pollard, one of the top winners in a late model in 2009 who started off 2010 with a victory at Lanier’s Ice Cold Shriners Bowl Pro Late Model event at Lanier National Speedway in January.
The Northern division is also well represented with Speedfest 2007 winner Eddie Hoffman, 2009 CRA Super series Champion John VanDoorn, 2009 ASA Late Model Challenge Series Champion Brian Campbell and three-time CRA Super Series Champion Scott Hantz, who is also the all-time win leader with the series.
Bill Elliott, NASCAR Champion, spotter and Dad said, “The level of competition and experience that we will be competing against is tremendous. This will be as good a learning experience for Chase as I could imagine and I think a lot of fun for the fans.”
There are currently a total of 33 entries for the 250-lap event. There will be a break at lap 125 for teams to work on their cars and change tires. The halfway leader will then draw for an invert for the start of the second half, the invert could be anywhere from a three to a six. There will be an open practice on Friday, January 29. Practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday, January 30. The CRA Super series event will be run on Sunday, January 31 starting at 2 p.m. More information on the CRA Super Series and up-to-the-minute entries for SpeedFest 2010 are available at www.craracing.net.

Thanks, I went to Speed 51, and the live updates were great. I thought Chase was going to pull out a top 5. I had to wait over half an hour after the race to see where he placed, the people updating took off to get interviews with the drivers, and left us hanging as to how everyone finished. Again a great job, and a lot to be proud of.
Hey thanks for your interest. Chase got passed by a nose right at the checkered flag which moved him back to 6th. It was just one of those things that he will gain experience with in time.
