DEARBORN, Mich. — For the 10th consecutive year, Ford Customer Service Division’s Motorcraft brand will team with legendary Wood Brothers Racing to compete in the Cup Series.

A new addition to the No. 21 Ford Fusion for the 2010 season is the co-sponsorship of Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers. Ford Motor Co.’s Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers are the fastest-growing service brand in the country and is on track to reach 600 stores nationwide in early 2010.

“We are very pleased to have Motorcraft and Quick Lane with us for the 2010 season,” Wood Brothers Racing co-owner Eddie Wood said. “We value Ford Customer Service Division’s involvement with us for the past 10 years, and we are excited to have both Motorcraft and Quick Lane on our NASCAR Fusions this season. Ford Customer Service Division has been loyal to us, and we have always been loyal to them. It feels like family — Wood Brothers Racing with Motorcraft and Quick Lane on board.”

Motorcraft, a Ford Motor Co. brand of automotive parts ranging from filters and spark plugs to engines and transmissions, will be the primary sponsor on the Wood Brothers No. 21 Ford Fusion for 10 races, beginning in February at the Daytona 500 and culminating with the season-ending Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers are operated by Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealers, but are equipped to provide services for all makes and models. Quick Lanes offer routine vehicle maintenance services such as oil and filter changes, and light repair services like brake repairs and tire replacements, all done by factory-trained technicians with no appointment necessary for customers.

“It’s a new and exciting year for us. We look to build on the strides we made last year,” Wood Brothers Racing co-owner Len Wood said. “On our partial schedule in 2009, we achieved five top-10 starts and four top-16 finishes. We hope to carry that momentum into 2010.”

Bill Elliott, who drove the Coors/Motorcraft Thunderbird to a Cup championship in 1988, is scheduled to be the driver for all of Motorcraft and Quick Lane’s sponsored races. Elliott, Motorcraft and the Wood Brothers first joined forces in 2007.

“We are very proud to continue and enhance our long-standing relationship with Wood Brothers Racing and Bill Elliott,” said Brett Wheatley, director of marketing, Ford Customer Service Division. “The Wood Brothers celebrate their 60th year in racing and 60th year with Ford this season. We are thrilled to be associated with such a tremendous group of people with a rich and successful history in one of the most popular sports in the country.”

The Wood Brothers are acknowledged pioneers in the sport of stock-car racing, and have earned 96 wins in 59 years of NASCAR competition — second-most in Ford Racing history.

For the 2010 season, the Motorcraft and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers logos will appear on both the No. 21 Ford Fusion in NASCAR and on the Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car of Bob Tasca III in NHRA.

FordParts.com also will have a presence on both race cars for the 2010 season. FordParts.com allows customers to shop for, order, and receive original equipment parts through its new Web site. It allows customers to remain connected to a Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealership of their choice for the parts expertise, personal delivery assistance, and post-sale follow-up associated with a traditional purchase at a parts counter.

In addition to the serving as the primary vehicle sponsor for Wood Brothers and Tasca Racing, FCSD brings a very aggressive brand awareness campaign with a significant trackside presence at selected NASCAR and NHRA events in the form of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing Experience. The massive display, spreading out over half a football field, will let race fans connect with Motorcraft and Quick Lane brands in a unique way.

FCSD and its associated brands have won a place in the hearts and minds of racing fans everywhere since the mid-1980s, including sponsoring Ford Hall of Fame drag racer Bob Glidden, a 10-time NHRA Pro Stock champion, and NASCAR champions Bill Elliott and Dale Jarrett.

Its brands have visited Victory Lane and won championships in NASCAR, NHRA, SCORE, IMSA GT and GTO and SCCA Trans-Am throughout the years.

  1. Cindy,
Glad to see Bill back in 2010, but hate to see Roush running all of Ford’s Cup stuff, and the Woods being the step-child. Tell Bill to bring his Mastersbilt up to Virginia Motor Speedway with Ray Cook on Sept. 18 for the Lucus Oil Super Late Model race!

  2. Bill Its great to hear you are givng us another year of racing. I’m going to homestead. I’ll have the scanner on and will enjoy the all that a nascar race weekend will bring. Good Luck this year.

  3. I am so pleased to see the legends of NASCAR ( Wood Bros, AND Bill Elliott ) together again.
I hope the team can have some top10/s and maybe a win!!

  4. Hope to see the Motorcraft Fusion in victory lane this year! Would LOVE to see the red #21 run the full schedule for sprint cup!

  5. I am SOOOO happy to see Elliott racing again in 2010. Bring it home Bill!! You ran awesome last year and I look forward seeing you in victory lane this year!

  6. Good Luck Bill & Wood Bros for 2010. Hopefully the 21 will continue to improve from all that was learned last year. Win one and shock the racing world!!!

  7. i love bill but if your not going to try to run up front it is time to stop. if you still wanted to keep racing you sould have stay in 9#car

  8. Bill IS trying to run up front and the Wood Brothers ARE trying to catch up with teams that have 7 and 8 times more information technical information to compute and share becuase they have mutiple teams. There are those of us who still believe in Bill and the Wood Brothers. Those of us who understand what they are up against and believe they are doing a fantastic job!

  9. Thanks. The support of our fans means the world to us.

  10. We will do our best!

  11. We believe we can!

  12. We just dont have enough sponsorship to have a complete enough team to make the entire schedule, but if we keep up the top 10′s and hopefully a win that is bound to change.

  13. Well said Cindy. There is no driver out there that is a better chassis man than Bill. Ask anyone in the business and they will tell you that. The man has done more with less than anyone driving today, period.

  14. I’m looking forward to another year of Bill racing in the Cup series.

Bill was running lap times last year as fast if not faster than the leaders, all that was needed was track postion and competetive pit stops.

I truly believe that Bill hasn’t lost a thing behind the wheel of any race car. This man can flat out get the job done, no doubt about it. Just watch him in qualifying, very, very fast and most times able to lay down a very solid second lap when most go or go home drivers give up.

I’m expecting even better things from the # 21 team this year, top 10 finishes and hopefully contending for some wins.

A front row start in the Daytona 500 is the way to start Bill’s year!!!
Put the hammer down on that Big FR9 and put on a show!!!

  21. glad to see bill racing another season hope all the planets align and he gets a win

  22. Cindy I wouldn’t even have dignified the comment about Bill staying with the #9 back at the end of ’03. Plus no PROFANITY !: ) I want to go to the 2nd Michigan race this year with my girlfriend as I haven’t been there since ’05 when Bill drove the #91 Dodge for Ray. Still remember the banner outside the track with Bill on it. He came in 11th that day. So I was wondering if there is a chance to meet Bill and you (Chase too) that weekend ? I don’t think I’ve seen Bill since ’98 Muncy Pa. or maybe it was Stroudsburg Pa. in ’99 (McDonalds). Anyway it’s been a long while. I hope the best for BER and the Wood bros. this year and like it says above-nobody can probably do more with less than Bill Elliott ! Have an AWESOME day !!!

  23. Glad to read Bill will be back in the 21 car. Started following Bill after a race in the seventies where Richard Petty commented to keep an eye on that Elliott kid. Bill is pure Class and is one of the smartest Nascar drivers in its history.

  24. Nice to hear confidence in Bill’s voice. Read the other day Bill feels they can put the 21Woods Brother’s Ford on the front row at Daytona. Oh ya, the good old day’s

  25. Red fox great quote. Bill always was a great chassis man. If he would’ve had the high dollar ride after junior things would have been different. Just look at what he did with ray everham

  26. Can’t wait to see Bill at Michigan in June. Hey Cindy you said a win could change them not running a full schedule! Would Bill run a full schedule again?????

  27. What I meant is that it would help us as we are trying to secure a few more races this year than what we have announced on the schedule but not a full schedule.

  28. Yes it is just unfortunant that he had to leave Ford at that time in his career because he was limited to the teams that would be competitive and that were avaialable at that time. But from what I see right now things have not changed much.

  29. Yes it is very nice!

  30. Thanks :)

  31. Chase will be in Pensacola, Fl and Mobile, AL while Bill is in Michigan and I am not sure yet which one I will be with but Bill is doing an autograph session at Berlin Raceway on June 15th during the CRA 250 event Rowdy’s Revenge that Chase will be racing in. That is a day or two after the first MIchigan race. Didnt know if you lived close by since you are coming to the second Michigan race:)

  32. Good Luck in your racing adventures as well! We hope to get Chase and Bill back on some dirt around here this summer. There is nothing like it! I’ve never riden in a car on asphalt with Bill but did on dirt one day last year and it was a blast!

  33. yes we would love that as well.

  34. I think Bill and the wood brothers do a great job…and I wouldnt be surprised to see some very good runs this year after buidling on last year… Ive been a bill elliott fan and will always be a bill elliott fan ..I hope he drives parttime for the wood brothers as long as he wants , then let chase take over full time in th #21 when he is old enough…

  35. Bill did not set the speed record because he could not drive and Woods Brothers did not win 96 races by accident either. Bill can still put the #21 on the pole with the right circumstances Go get em Bill!!!!

  36. Is there any truth to Bill driving the #6 in the shootout? It would be great if he did. Go get them in 2010.

  37. Is there any truth to Bill running the #6 in the Shootout? I hope so. Go get them Bill in 2010.

  38. No, I’m sorry it is not true.

  39. I worked for Mr. Elliott (BER) in 2001 (Drive Thru Crew) and was kept on the team for the transfer to Dodge and EMS..as to assure my words..the car we qualified on the pole with at Daytona (the Dodge return to NASCAR) was a Ford from the BER team of the previous season.. If I remember correctly the cars assigned name was MacDaddy or maybe MacMomma.. can’t remember which car exactly.. We also had other car names (Dover car) was Redi-Mix.. My assigned responsibilities for the team then where all the interiors and electrical for the 9 and 19 car teams.. Bill and Casey at that time..

Due to EMS’s approach to certain idea’s.. I chose to leave the team shortly after Daytona that season.. I have always said.. If Bill Elliott still owned the team.. I would still be there.. Bill is a wonderful man to work for.. I looked forward to everyday I worked for him.. And Hello Mrs. Elliott.. we met briefly a couple times.. But you would not remember me.. Thank you for supporting Bill and Chase.. and if (you) ever need someone to work for your team (I’m here for you Mr.Elliott and the Elliott family).. anyway..

I’m very tickled that Mr.Elliott is the 21car pilot for 2010.. and fully support Bill’s every lap..

  40. Well thank you very much. It is always nioce to hear from a former team member.

  41. We are from central New York Cindy in between Syracuse and Utica. A small city called Oneida. If Pocono pops up on the schedule then maybe we would go there instead. Think maybe Bill still likes that track.. Two weeks to the 500-YAAAY !!!
