Race Time 2012 Program Includes $99 Family Track Pack,
Expanded Merchandise, Fan Events at Stores Across U.S.
BENTONVILLE, Ark. (Jan. 26, 2012) – Walmart today announced it is expanding its Race Time 2012 program to give fans more accessibility to discounted race tickets, driver appearances and fan events at stores, a greater selection of authentic NASCAR merchandise and a special sponsorship of Bill Elliott at the Coke Zero 400.
Walmart’s Race Time program, launched last year as the largest retail promotion in NASCAR history, gives fans authentic merchandise and fan events at Walmart stores in every NASCAR Sprint Cup series race market. This year, Walmart has more than tripled the number of companies offering displays of authentic merchandise, doubled the number of fan events at stores and increased the race markets where the $99 Walmart Family Track Pack will be offered.
“Our mission is to bring accessibility and affordability to NASCAR fans,” said Rand Waddoups, Senior Director, Entertainment Properties and Brands, Walmart. “We know our customers love NASCAR, so we are going to be a one-stop shop where they can save on discounted family tickets and authentic merchandise, as well as meet some of their favorite drivers.”
The goal for Elliott, who was voted NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver 16 times and is one of NASCAR’s Top 50 Drivers of all time, is to qualify and compete at the Coke Zero 400. He will also visit Walmart stores with his show car before select races.
Steve Phelps, chief marketing officer of NASCAR, said, “Our expanded partnership with Walmart allows us to further engage and excite our fans and bring exceptional value. NASCAR fans can now visit a single destination to stock up on all of their favorite NASCAR merchandise, tickets and race-day snacks.”
Walmart’s Race Time 2012 program specifics include:
- Elliott appearances at Walmart stores throughout the racing season leading up to the Daytona race on July 7, giving fans a chance to meet him in person.
- In participating race markets, Walmart will offer a $99 Walmart Family Track Pack that includes four discounted race tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and a race program. The package saves fans more than $100 and will be available online at Walmart.com as well as in Ticketmaster kiosks in selected Walmart stores.
- NASCAR fan events at stores in every race market throughout the season will feature real stock car race displays, special appearances by professional drivers and racing simulator machines.
- Participating stores will offer authentic NASCAR T-shirts, racing flags and other NASCAR branded merchandise, as well as tailgating food and beverages.

I also emailed Mr. Freeze:
“Hello Mr. Freeze,
I’m sure your busy so let me get to it. May I suggest a replacement for Landon Cassill. How about Bill Elliott? The man is a proven superspeedway driver and is a past champ. This option gives your team a better chance at making the 500 using a provisional as a backup, but I bet Bill could put that Ford in on speed! Many teams have passed on Bill as of late for the young guns, but a respectable talent like Bill Elliott brings a ton of positive attention to a up and coming team! If nothing else, bring it up at your next meeting and see what everyone thinks. I thinks it’s a sure bet.
Thanks,
Kevin “
Does anyone know JTG’s e-mail address? I think Labonte and Elliott would make an excellent team. Labonte has done a great job getting that team on track and since my brother is a huge Bobby Labonte fan Bill and him teaming up would be really cool. Like I said before I don’t think it hurts to write these guys and give a plug or two for Bill. What always has blown my mind is why some one wouldn’t call the man for a ride at Indy? Prior to his semi retirement he had to have one of the best averages at that track.
Remember everyone, I read that Bill heard about the Wal Mart deal on the monday before the announcement, someone called him. If we all keep letting the owner’s know he is out there still, maybe they will take to sponsors and calls will be more abundant.
Elliott fans are the best!
I am going to the Daytona 500 in a couple of weeks and would love for Bill to have a ride! Do you have any idea if Bill has a chance of being in the race?
I know that we are all just hopefull die-hard Bill fans but I’m afraid other than the one race Wal-Mart deal, Bill’s racing career is over. Today’s marketing types and business owners want the younger generation of drivers not Bill.
The frustrating thing is most of todays car owners would rather have Bill drive their car than the current driver they have. But again, big money is dictating the sport.
Shame, shame, shame…..
Thats very true cndbillfan. Bill Elloitt, is one of the sports biggest super stars of all time. Not to mention the most popular driver of all time. Shame on all the teams and owners out there. Bill, desreves a ride for the 500. Bill and Dale are still the sports very best ever Alltime, Good Luck Chase and Bill !!
CNDBILFAN & Buck,
I disagree, we will see Bill in more races than that one, perhaps not this year, but we will. The economy has a lot to do with it, if certain things happen in November, I would say 2013 will be much better for Nascar and feel Bill will have additional chances to race. I do agree he will not get a full-time ride.
I am happy to hear my 2nd favorite race car driver, Ricky Rudd has signed on to SPEED. It will be good to see him once again. We never know what may be in Awesome Bill’s future, especially as Chase hits the scene, many possible marketing dreams with Dad & son. Sponsors & car owners may have a whole different take on Bill then.
Now, just in case you are right…I am going to the July race this year:)
Rick,
I hope you’re right but I feel that Bill and Chase in the Arca series is what we’ll see.
What, I don’t understand is why isn’t Hendrick making something happen for Bill???
And, why does Mark Martin still get a ride? He’s more overrated now than he was in the 6 car.
CNDBILLFAN, Arca series maybe. I do feel one race at least, Chase and Bill will be together in Cup. Wishful thinking maybe, but do feel it will happen.
I agree with you 110% on both Hendrick & Mark Martin!! It is unbelievable!!
The old red Bull team needs a 2nd driver to team with landon Cassill in a Toyota. They say Travis Kvapil. They should really think of Bill (even though a Toyota is really tough to take).
The 93 car (old #4 from Kasey Kahne) could be good for Bill & great for Landon & team.
I wonder if they are negotiating with Bill?? I doubt it though.
Some of these teams blow my mind. Man it makes me ill.
I would say that mid next week we will have a clearer picture of who will drive what, and I will predict that Awesome Bill will wind up with a ride!! Bill is to valuable of a driver to be continually passed over!! Go Bill #26?
Great article this morning about Chase taking after his dad, great young man. What a future we should have watching him progress.

This was on Chase’s website right?

Cindy,
I saw it thru Jayski news link
Just watched Chase’s interview, sure made me smile. Really looking forward to Salem.
I was sure holding out for some good news. But i reckon nothings gone come together.
Actually, Joe Nemecheck is a good guy and may need some help so don’t give up just yet.
uhoh! Ill keep’m crossed
Sounds like a chance. Hoping for the best. Would be “Awesome” to see Bill in the Daytona 500, baby!
at last a ray of hope for elliott nation!!! even if it’s not the best car EVERYONE seems to have a chance when the plates& drafting (an art that bill is a master of) come into play hope he gets the chance to showcase his prowess. awesome bill forever!!!!
ABE gonna dominate Daytona! I can hear it now
youve got to wonder if these team owners watched the daytona 500 last year!
Minus M Martin block to ABillE on that last lap he had a top three run. And
from what i saw with the mo he had im not so sure he wasnt gonna cross the line
in p1!
